STOP Massacre in ASHRAF
Campaign Objectives:
Despite extensive international efforts in search of a peaceful solution for Ashraf, the Prime Minister of Iraq, Nouri Al-Maliki, as the no-question-asked executor of policies dictated by mullahs ruling Iran has vowed to close the camp at the end of the year 2011.
Through our previous campaigns we have been writing to urge US President Obama, Secretary Clinton, United Nations, and European Union authorities urging them to secure Ashraf by UN peace keeping forces or US troops until they are safely relocated to another place. The right of protection and safe relocation is guaranteed by several international treaties and UN conventions but no one takes responsibility to enforce them because of political reasons.
Our argument with above authorities is very simple; "regardless of political beliefs, ideologies and policies, WE MUST NOT ALLOW 3400 MEN AND WOMEN MASSACRED".
Campaign Progress, last week's impact of thousands of letters written
• UN Secretary General, Mr Ban Ki-moon, last week told media that he continues to strongly appeal all member countries for homes to be found for the 3,400 Ashraf residents.
• United Nations Security Council sent a message to the Iraqi government to extend the proposed December 31st camp closure deadline.
• Head of UN envoy to Iraq, Martin Kobler, in his speech before the Security Council said that he was pushing for the best solution because "lives are at stake and should be protected."
• Catherine Ashton, EU Foreign policy chief stressed that the safety of the people in the camp must be our primary concern. In an official statement friday she writes; "Yesterday I met with Martin Kobler, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and head of the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI). As I did earlier this week in my meeting with the UN SG Ban Ki-moon, I expressed my full support for the efforts both UNAMI and UNHCR are making to solve the problem of Camp Ashraf.
• US Foreign Secretary, Clinton in US Congress hearing told the Foreign Affairs Committee members that she is personally following the Ashraf case and is very concerned about the safety of its residents.
Bad news and plots

• Opposite to the display of increasing support by the Iraqi people and politicians regarding the suppressive plots against Ashraf, Nouri Al-Maliki continues to prepare its special forces for a new deadly assault on camp residents. The special military forces who are involved in the raid are directly reporting to prime minister’s office.
• A report by the Belgian newspaper Le Soir on 2 December, 2011 said that the EU ministers are working on a plan put forward by Iraqi government (at the behest of Iranian regime) that includes moving the residents to a place in Baghdad and then gradually taking 2/3 of the residents to a prison in Iraq and sending about one third to Iran.
• The UNHCR has requested to start the first phase of identity check to determine requested refugee status by Ashraf Asylum seekers before relocation but Iraq has made this a red line i.e. they want to start relocation before even the residents of Ashraf are identified to UNHCR. In this case, if residents disappeared, there is no official record that they existed.

Suggested guidelines for writing President Obama
• Send your letter by email, fax, and post if possible. It would be most effective if the letter could be written in your own capacity, rather than as a supporter of You could briefly mention who you are and that you have (for many years) been following the humanitarian situation at Camp Ashraf. Keep the letter short and to the point. you could use any of the following facts in your writings:
• The United States has made commitments to Ashraf residents and is directly responsible for its welfare.
• Every Ashraf resident, after intensive interviews by American forces, was issued an identification card signed by commander of the American forces in Iraq designated as protected person. They need that protection NOW.
• Washington, the US Congress and the international community are monitoring the situation and the actions of President Obama. Silence and neutrality, in time of such grave danger to human issues and values and lives cannot be forgiven and forgotten.
• If the United States cannot be trusted to keep its word with people who have trusted her, who can expect that Iraqi people and all the people in the Middle East to take US serious anymore?
• The US government installed Maliki in power and without her support, Maliki's government will not stand.
